So the archive.org staff aren't very good at advertising this, but the solution to most of the cataloguing woes in the text collections here is to not browse from archive.org directly, but rather use the interface at <a href="http://openlibrary.org/" target="_blank">http://openlibrary.org/</a> (which is also run by the Archive) whenever possible.<BR><BR>Aside from being prettier and generally easier to use, the Open Library site allows anyone to register an account and fix errors or omissions in the book metadata (like volume number), without altering the uploader's item here on archive.org (thus addressing Mr. Kaplan's concern). It also allows multiple editions of the same book to be presented in a consolidated format that makes it much easier to figure out which one you want.
